Text alert from NDRRMC, 1 hour after the earthquake
Past 5PM today, an earthquake hit Zambales which was also felt strongly at some parts of Metro Manila. I was about to go off work when I felt the earthquake. At first I was just waiting for it to subside, because typical earthquakes in Makati does not last very long and not strong at all. But man, this time, it was stronger and lasted longer than the usual. Our office is at the 21st floor and we felt like the floor was sliding from left to right harshly – some employees started crying and and some docked under their computer table. All I can think of is to pack my things and get ready to run down the fire exit. After a few minutes, our General Manager ok’d us to go down through the fire exit. Everyone from the 21st and 25th floors were able to go down the ground floor safe and sound. I immediately called my Mom but she’s not answering so I called my Dad – he told me he didn’t felt it because he was driving. Mom later chatted and confirmed that they felt the earthquake too, but are safe at home.
Thank you Lord for watching over us and keeping us safe.
Here are the photos of people flocking at the sidewalks – some are waiting for their company announcement of work suspension while most of the workers are on their way home.
