Hwaseong Fortess (화성) is a wall surrounding Suwon built 1794 to 1796 and is 5.52km long. There was a time when the king, Jeongjo, planned to move the capital from Seoul to Suwon. Interesting right? 🙂

Walking along the wall
The fortress wall is a little more than 5km. You can send a good one hour walking while taking pictures. There are some military equipments along the way too. Four gates are in the area – Janganmun (north), Paldalmun (south), Changnyongmun (east), and Hwaseomun (west).
Walking by the wall, you will come a cross different military equiments that were used by Koreans to defend the fortess in 1700’s.
Suwon Fortress Park
There’s a park where in you can relax. A few exercise equipments for adults are in place, and ofcourse, fun play area for kids are also available.
End of the Fortress Wall & Stream
You will find a stream upon reaching the end of the Fortress wall.
