Being someone who has lived in a tropical country for her whole life, experiencing snow for the first time was simply fascinating. I’ve only really watched actors from TV series have snow fall above their head and land beneath their feet. So when the opportunity came where I go somewhere snowy, I agreed in an instant.
My friends and I visited Yongpyong Ski Resort, where the 2018 Preongchang Winter Olympic Games was held. Ofcourse we only really did try the beginner’s slopes. We booked our trip with an agent – I can’t remember where anymore, but the same package can be purchased at Klook.
The tour bus picked us up directly from the airport and it took us about 6 hours to arrive to the resort. It was snowing slightly when we got off the bus! We enjoyed chicken and beer and then rested in our luxurious hotel room. Seriously, it was fancy. The next day, the agent arranged for us to pickup our Ski gear at a nearby shop. We changed clothes in the store and went back to the resort to start our Ski experience. Our instructor taught us the basics of how to gain speed and stop, then let us enjoy our time going back and forth from the top of the hill down (and sometimes sumbling down). At around 4PM, we returned our gears and went back to Seoul.
If you’re visiting Korea during winter (December – early March), I highly recommend for you to try skiing. I’m not an athletic person, but a few hours or practice (and stumbling down the slope) will make you better with it! I would definitely try again if I had the chance.
Here are some photos from our trip!
